Brook Will Meet Porter/Malignaggi Winner Within 90 Days of Their Fight
Kell Brook easily defeated Alvaro Robles at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, UK last evening via 8th round knockout. The British born fighter, who is currently the #6 ranked Welterweight fighter in the world, now has a perfect 32-0-0 record, with 22 of his wins coming via knockout.
Nobody expected Brook to encounter any troubles against Robles, as most saw this as a tune-up fight for Brook. You might forgive Brook for not turning in his best performance on Saturday evening, as he is likely looking forward to his next fight.
It was already been announced that Brook will fighting the winner of Shawn Porter vs Paulie Malignaggi, who will be fighting on the Hopkins/Shumenov Showtime card on April 19th. This fight will be for the IBF Welterweight title.
When the Porter/Malignaggi fight was announced, it was also revealed that the winner of that fight would be obligated to fight Kell Brook for the title within 90 days. So, sometime before July 19th, the winner of Porter/Malignaggi will need to defend the IBF Welterweight title against Kell Brook, barring an injury.
So, not only do Porter and Malignaggi has to worry about each other on April 19th, but they also need to keep the Kell Brook fight in their minds, as one of them will be squaring off against "The Special One" by the summer.
Kell Brook has won his last four fights (Robles, Senchenko, Jones, Saldivia) via knockout, with two of the fights lasting into the eighth round.
